About Me

My name is Ben Heighway, and I’m a 29 year old 3D Artist/Animator.  I currently live in Whiting, Indiana but I’m originally from Shelbyville, Indiana.  After graduating from Shelbyville High School in 2001, I was accepted into the architecture program and the Honor’s College at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana.  I eventually changed majors to Fine Art where I studied Sculpture, Art History, and minored in Spanish.

After graduation in 2005, I opted not to go to France to sculpt gargoyles on ancient cathedrals and continued to work as a delivery driver and manager at Pizza Hut.  After a couple years of working in the restaurant business, I realized that I was developing some awesome stories from all of the debauchery and ridiculousness that I came across when I knocked on people’s doors in Muncie.  You can’t imagine what you’ll see at 2:00am on the east side of Muncie or what happens when the pizza guy gets to the house party on Ball State campus.  I realized there must be a way to tell my stories through my art. Animation!

I started taking online animation classes at the Illinois Institute of Art in Chicago in the spring of 2008. In June of that year I moved to Whiting, Indiana to attend classes in Chicago.  After two years of hard work, I graduated in September of 2010.  Since then I’ve been working on several freelance projects as well as expanding my own knowledge of other computer programs.  I’ve been moonlighting as a Valet Supervisor at the Horseshoe Casino.  I love making people smile, music, history, and hard work.  So far, I’ve accomplished most of my goals; my current goal is to work on a feature film or my own television program.
